Since 1958, we have been welcoming everyone from novice to expert, hobbyists and professionals.

Our Mission

  2. To acquire and distribute to the members practical and scientific information about the collection, culture and propagation of orchids

  3. To arrange the dissemination of information through exhibits, lectures, access to publications, and any other means, for the encouragement of orchid growing.

  4. To cooperate in and take part in activities of other Societies with purposes similar to those of this Society.

MEETINGS

Our March 2024 Meeting

Meetings start at 6:00pm with room setup.

Many of our experienced members serve as “Plant Doctors” and they are available for free consultations starting at 6:00pm.

The evening program begins at 6:30pm starting with announcements followed by the feature presentation. Each meeting features a presentation/lecture followed by a Q&A session, demonstrations or slide shows and typically last about 1 hour. A refreshment break follows the presentation to allow for socializing among members.

Members are encouraged to bring orchids in bloom for Show and Tell. The top three orchids are awarded points for the annual Hendrickson Award.

The Opportunity Table brings the general meeting to a close and most everyone in attendance walks away with a new orchid.

During meetings, members will bring in orchids for sale, and the Society offers orchid related supplies.

All proceeds from the night go to the general fund of the Society.

LOCATION

Meetings take place on the second Wednesday of the Month at the Napa Valley Senior Center located at 1500 Jefferson Street in Napa.

In 1958 Mel Dittmer and several orchid-loving friends started the Napa Valley Orchid Society. We are one of the longest running societies in the American Orchid Society. For the past 40+ years we have met monthly at the Napa Senior Activities Center and held annual Orchid Shows, Plant Auctions & Re-potting sessions open to the public. Every month we bring expert growers to educate us about many aspects of orchids. Our membership is strong with a great sense of community and we consistently add new members.
